Louis A. Bourget, BSc, MSc, PhD, DMD, FRCD(C), FIAOMS
Dr. Louis Bourget, previous head of lifeguards in the province of Quebec, swimmer and paramedic, and father of 4 children, received his Bsc in Physiology in 1983. Continued his research on enzyme treatment for the inborn error of metabolism PKU to complete is PhD at McGill University by 1986. Accepted in an undergraduate Dental program at McGill University until 1990. A year of medical/dental internship allowed him to enter a maxillofacial program at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia. His training was completed by 1995. He received his fellowship (FRCD (c)) in the same year. He was in France for a fellowship in Cleft Lip and Palate reconstruction and Facial cosmetics.
Advanced courses in facial reconstruction were also taken at the Mayo clinic, in Sweden, Michigan, St. Louis, San Fransisco, Florida and Vienna. He followed a facial cosmetic fellowship in North Carolina. He is also a fellow of the international association of Oral and Maxillofacial surgeons. He has an active practice in Nova Scotia,with satellite locations in New Brunswick & NewFoundland and has been involved with facial reconstruction rehabilitation and cosmetic surgery since 1995.
He is the author of many scientific papers and has presented extensively in National and International meeting on Cleft lip and palate and facial reconstruction. He has been intensively involved in provincial development of oral & maxillofacial surgery and has been involved with implant rehabilitation training, facial cosmetic and facial trauma / reconstruction. He is currently an advanced cardiac life support instructor (ACLS).
Cosmetic surgery requires additional years of hospital-based training. Dr. Bourget manages a wide variety of problems relating to the face. He practices a full scope of cosmetic surgery with expertise in reconstructive and facial cosmetic surgery.
With over 1000 Continuing education courses, Dr Bourget continues to bring new and up to date technology to his patients.
